Welcome back, Sam! Quantum Leap makes a triumphant return to SCI FI, and is just as fresh, funny, dramatic and downright entertaining as ever. You know the story, right? Of course you do! But for old time's sake, here are the basics: Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula, Enterprise) is a scientist who falls foul of his own time travel device, and finds himself "leaping from life to life, putting things right that once went wrong, and hoping each time that his next Leap... Will be the Leap home."
Aided and abetted by his lecherous, flamboyant, cigar-toting friend (and hologram) Al, Sam embarks on his incredible yet lonely mission through time. Oh boy.
Dr Sam Beckett (Scott Bakula)
Ex-law student Scott Bakula got his big break in 1989 with Quantum Leap, and became a household name virtually overnight. His outstanding performance as Sam Beckett earned him four Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations, one of which he went on to win. After moving to movies and starring in Clive Barker's Lord of Illusions and American Beauty, amongst others, Bakula landed the role of Captain Jonathan Archer in Star Trek: Enterprise. This is a man with not one but two iconic sci-fi characters under his belt!
Al (Dean Stockwell)
Dean Stockwell is something of an acting legend. His career spans a staggering seven decades - and if that took you by surprise, just wait until you see some of the people he acted alongside: Gregory Peck, Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, Orson Welles, Katharine Hepburn... All by the age of 26! His movie work continued apace with classics like Dune, Blue Velvet, Married To The Mob and Air Force One, and he is still working today aged 71. A little show, you might have heard of it - Battlestar Galactica.
