When the soul of a deceased revisits the living, we call it a ghost. Sometimes it appears as an ethereal mist or a shadow, sometimes as a vague likeness of the deceased, sometimes as only a sound. Visit any town, anywhere in the world, and you are bound to hear of a ghostly local legend told with grisly detail in dark or gloomy settings. Ghosts are said to haunt places they were emotionally tied to during life, so a haunted place has a story of its own to tell.
Ghost Stories is a series about visits from beyond the grave, presented by Rip Torn. Each episode presents ghostly tales, dramatising supernatural events and delving into how these ghosts came to be, why they are with us, and what they are searching for. Ghosts can be benevolent or evil, jealous or generous, beautiful or hideous. Every ghost, like every living creature, has some purpose. That is what this series explores. These are fresh, modern-day ghost stories presented for your spine-tingling pleasure…
Rip Torn (Himself)
Rip Torn (yes, it's his real name), the Academy Award-nominated host of Ghost Stories, has an extraordinary acting career stretching back to the '50s. He excels in supporting roles, as with Men In Black, the animated Hercules, Dodgeball and 30 Rock, and is probably best known for playing Artie in The Larry Sanders Show.
