With the election of Sen. Barack Obama to the presidency, SCI FI Channel's How You Can Save the World blog has enlisted 20 contributors from the fields of education, space, sustainability, transportation, futurism, political science and more to weigh in on the effect of the historic election on the future.
The contributors include Jamais Cascio, an environmental futurist, science-fiction game designer and co-founder of World Changing.com; James Daly, editorial director for GreatSchools; Esther Dyson, Internet guru and noted analyst in emerging technologies and emerging markets; Jeffrey Hoffman, former space-shuttle NASA astronaut and now a professor of astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Dave Howe, president of SCI FI Channel; and Michio Kaku, theoretical physicist and co-founder of string field theory.

Others include Neal Lane, the Malcolm Gillis University professor at Rice University who served as White House science advisor under President Clinton; Sarah Rich, an expert in the field of sustainability, design and architecture, food, technology, consumer culture and trend forecasting; Lee Schipper, former co-director of EMBARQ, the Center for Sustainable Transportation and the World Resources Institute; Peter Schwartz, an internationally renowned futurist and co-founder and chairman of Global Business Network; Rusty Schweickart, a former astronaut and currently a space and satellite consultant; Siel, an environmental writer and activist; Steven Weber, Professor of political science and director of the Institute of International Studies at the University of California, Berkeley; and Anton Yelchin, an actor soon to appear in Star Trek and Terminator Salvation.
