MCG COMES INTO TOWN AND SPREADS THE HYPE
Star Trek isn't the only major science fiction franchise to be reawakened in 2009. Terminator Salvation director McG revealed a five minute trailer for his sequel to James Cameron's science fiction blockbusters at a London preview screening this week. As with Star Trek, fans of the Terminator franchise have expressed doubts over the director, perhaps justifiably considering this is the man who brought us Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Nevertheless McG has promised a gritty, story based, dystopian vision of the future. One thing we know for sure is that Christian Bale will make a more convincing saviour of humanity than Edward Furlong.

DOCUMENTS REVEAL PLANS FOR AN INVISIBLE TARDIS
"A frail old man lost in space and time". That's how the character we know as Dr. Who was first described in the 1960s by BBC children's writer Cecil Webber. Documents released by the BBC reveal that producers of Dr. Who were originally unconvinced by the possible popularity of a science fiction show. The articles - which can be read in full on the BBCs digital archive - also reveal that the show's producers entertained the possibility of the Doctor travelling through space in an invisible time machine.

IS AN X-MEN JUNIORS MOVIE ON THE CARDS?
Get ready for adolescent anxiety - superhero style. It seems that Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz has been approached by movie producers regarding a possible X-Men spin-off revolving around the teenage members of the troupe. Ninety minutes of hormones and mutant powers should make an interesting mix. The first spin-off movie from the franchise, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is on course for a summer 2009 release.

The duo is well practised in the fantasy genre having written the scripts for The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, and its sequel Prince Caspian. Captain America: First Avenger will act as a precursor to the even more hotly anticipated Avengers movie.
