Scariest rollercoaster ever?

saw-thorpe-park.jpgThe horror movie franchise Saw has not only become a staple at cinemas since the 2004 original's release, but it has now spawned it's own rollercoaster ride at Britain's Thorpe Park.

Saw: The Ride, which opens at the theme park in Surrey venue next March, will see riders face a terrifying and record breaking 100ft vertical freefall plummet. The films are based on ingenious traps laid out by sadistic serial killer Jigsaw (played by Tobin Bell). He punishes his victims because they have led questionable lives.

It's to be the first rollercoaster to be based on a horror movie.

In a statement, Lionsgate (who produce the films) said, "Saw - The Ride is a reflection of how thoroughly the Saw franchise has crossed over into pop culture at large. We are delighted to be working with Thorpe Park to continue that expansion with the scariest ride in the world."

Saw V will be released in UK cinemas on October 24.

Circus of Horrors will also be here with their freakish new show Apocalypse, and EA Games will be terrifying thrill hunters with their new sci-fi survival horror game Dead Space!

Prince Charles Has Turned Down The Chance To Appear In Doctor Who.

eda460.jpgPrince Charles, although apparently a fan of Doctor Who, has turned down the offer of a cameo appearance on the show - much to the disgust of writer-producer Russell T Davies ("the miserable swine"). Charles none the less appeared briefly as himself on Coronation Street in 2000.

Aliens Flood Into UK Waters

_44948588_-45.jpgThe seas surrounding the UK - and the rivers that flow into them - are filled with animal and plant species that originate far from our shores.

While some of these non-native invaders will die out over time, others are thriving - and are becoming a huge threat to biodiversity.

Here, two experts - Jack Sewell and Philine zu Ermgassen - explain how these alien invaders are affecting our ecosystems.

To read about them in detail go to BBC Online or watch the video there too.

Then There Were Homemade Transformers

transformers-of-zhejiang.jpg

Transformers was a big movie for China, a generation of Chinese men grew up watching the first foreign cartoon to be allowed on TV and a cult Transformers following grew from this.

One man in Zhejiang province, Mr. Zhu, let his enthusiasm for Transformers get the better of him, he actually built a few of his own Transformer robots out of used car parts shown above, including an old BMW 735i front end, which he bought from a scrap car dealer.

The robots are used as a promotional tool for Mr. Zhu's own scrap metal business and not as an artistic piece like Jeremy Meyers creations. Trade should surely be rather swift for Mr. Zhu now, since he's been mentioned in many large media outlets in the PRC.

Mr. Zhu is not the first to make his own Transformers, there was the Citroen transfomer a while back as well on UK TV advertising screens, which I'm sure you still remember. Well, my grandma still talks about it now anyway if no one else does.
