Stars Wars News Roundup

October 17, 2008 9:41 AM

This is Jedi News on scifi.co.uk with a round-up of the latest news from the galaxy, far, far away

Following on from the success of last weekend's auctions at 42 of their stores, Toys R Us are running the second round of auctions this weekend giving the public another opportunity to bid for seven giant pieces of their Star Wars: The Clone Wars graphic displays from each of the remaining 31 stores, with the profits being given to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital. The auctions will begin at 10:30am this Sunday (19th October) and you can get the list of which stores are involved by clicking here.

For movie completists, the original and prequel trilogies have recently been re-released as two separate 6-DVD box sets, and whilst these are straight repacks with no new content, HMV are offering exclusive packaging, with each set being offered with free UK delivery for £17.99.

Dark Horse Comics this week released their tie-in comic for The Clone Wars, having recently announced that the first volume in their new series of Star Wars Adventures will be entitled, Han Solo and the Hollow Moon of Khorya.  Sticking with this theme, StarWars.com has added two more stories to the ongoing The Clone Wars webcomics, with Procedure and Agenda following Prelude and Shakedown

After last week's announcement of the launch of Kotobukiyas third series of ARTFX+ figures from The Clone Wars, Star Wars Clube Portugal have posted exclusive images of how both Commander Cody and Captain Rex really look under their helmets!

Sticking with high-end items, eFX Collectibles' October newsletter advised of a rescheduled on-sale date for their Episode II: Attack of the Clones Clone Trooper Helmet, announced a "Director's Edition" of Ahsoka Tano's Lightsaber with a plaque signed by The Clone Wars' director, Dave Filoni, and also offered a sneak peak at the first product in their FX Model Line, Luke Skywalker's Red Five X-Wing.  For the full details, follow this link.

With Christmas just around the corner, it's maybe time to start thinking about what to buy for the kids, both large and small, and images have this week surfaced of some new Galactic Heroes products in the shape of The Clone Wars: Play-Doh Stampers and a Guess Who game.

Jedi News site sponsor, ID-WALL, have launched their new website, and if you use the voucher code SFX10008 when making a purchase, you'll get 10% off!  We're also running a Caption Competition with a chance to win a canvas from Star Wars - The Empire Strikes Back, worth £89.99 - courtesy of ID-WALL.  Take this link directly to the forums to take part and win (you will have to register on the forums first).

Finally, we just want to remind you that all 12 episodes of SCI FI UK's video exclusive entitled 'The Star Wars Years' are now online, spanning 1971-2008, with particular focus on 1977, "the year that everything changed", to this year, where "the future looks bright for Star Wars with the animated Clone Wars, a live action TV series and the role playing video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed".  Check them out here.
