Star Wars Roundup From Jedi News

October 24, 2008 2:49 PM

This is Jedi News on scifi.co.uk with a round-up of the latest news from the Star Wars universe.   We've got a lot to talk about this week, so if you're sitting comfortably, then we'll begin....

Fans who've been waiting patiently for The Clone Wars to begin will finally be rewarded with the first episode airing on SKY Movies this coming weekend.

Just missing the deadline for last week's report was the news that Jedi News will be teaming up with Gentle Giant and Forbidden Planet on Friday 24th October at 5pm for the launch of the Galactic Marine and Coruscant Guard, which will both be exclusive to the store.  With special guest Karl Meyer ("The Man Behind Gentle Giant!"), free gifts and sneak peaks of forthcoming Gentle Giant statues, it's going to be one big party!

Sticking with Gentle Giant for a minute, images have recently surfaced, courtesy of our friends over at Yodasnews.com, of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi Animated Maquettes from The Clone Wars, along with the AT-AT Driver Mini Bust, all of which are due to arrive early next year.  Also revealed this week, is a The Force Unleashed Mini-Bust 2-Pack which will be available as an AFX Exclusive, featuring Darth Vader's secret apprentice as both the Ultimate Jedi and the Ultimate Sith.

The flow of high-end collectables continues, with eFX Collectibles issuing the press release for their forthcoming Attack of the Clones Episode II Clone Trooper Helmet, which goes on sale on Saturday, October 25th, which said the following:

An exact replica of the very first Clone Trooper Helmet featured in the Star Wars saga, eFX's AOTC Clone Trooper Helmet features sturdy fiberglass construction, a fully padded interior, display stand, and a numbered plaque with plaque stand. To ensure that this Clone Trooper helmet is an exact replica of the helmet seen on screen, it was created using the original digital files supplied by the Lucasfilm Archives.  This helmet is accurate in every detail from the smoked T-shaped visor to the lit LED reflector in the helmet's fin.

Collectors with a more modest budget may be more interested in the latest Star Wars-themed offering in Hasbro's Mr Potato Head range, namely, the Clone Tuber!  Following a long list which has so far included the likes of Darth Tater, Spud Trooper and Artoo Potatoo, this is sure to be enjoyed by kids, both large and small!

Fans of the Millennium Falcon will be pleased to hear that a novel of the same name has just been released, and to mark this event, the official site have been running a Millennium Falcon week, which has so far included a brief excerpt from the book, an article on the making of the only full scale Millenium Falcon ever built and also a look at Millennium Falcon collectables.

To coincide with the launch of The Clone Wars, LEGOLAND Windsor's Star Wars Firework Spectacular takes place this Saturday and Sunday, with four more dates to follow and Jedi News will be at the event to report back on the force-filled fun!

Finally, rounding-out this week's report is the news that LucasArts and BioWare have announced Star Wars: The Old Republic, "a story-driven massively multiplayer online PC game set in the timeframe of the Star Wars®Knights of the Old RepublicTM franchise. Star Wars: The Old Republic, being developed and published by BioWare and LucasArts, represents an innovative approach to interactive entertainment, featuring immersive storytelling, dynamic combat and intelligent companion characters."
