The biggest story on Jedi News by far is the announcement that the animated Star Wars: Clone Wars TV series is going to be broadcast in the UK on Sky Movies Premiere & HD starting on Saturday, October 25th. With the Star Wars show launching on October 3rd in the US, it will take an enormous amount of will-power to avoid any spoilers during the interim, but we'll be bringing you all the news of this exciting new addition to the Star Wars saga.
Staying with Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the movie will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in the US on November 11, marking the first time a Star Wars title has been released on the high-definition format. No word on a UK-release date as yet, but we don't expect to have to wait very long for that.
1998 saw the release of the first Star Wars Encyclopedia, a reference book cataloguing the many items of the fictional universe, and now StarWars.com has revealed the covers for all three volumes of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia which is due out at the end of the year from Del Rey and will contain details of over 30 years of movies, novels, comics, games, guides in its 1,200-plus-pages.
After repeated delays, The Force Unleashed was finally released in the UK on the 19th September and despite receiving mixed reviews, the game has gone on to sell more than 1.5 million copies across all platforms worldwide in its first five days of release. In related news, the official site has posted details on how to unlock the game's main character, The Secret Apprentice, within Namco Bandai's Soulcaliber IV, thereby providing players with the opportunity to take him on whilst playing as either Yoda or Darth Vader, depending on the format.
DeAgostini Official Starships & Vehicles Collection was recently launched and each issue features a new vehicle every two weeks along with a model of the vehicle itself. The first vehicle is the Millenium Falcon and ships with an A5 collector's magazine giving inside information on each vehicle. The first issue costs just £1.99 (normal price £7.99).
For collectors, toy store Smyths has recently reduced the Hasbro AT-TE by 20% and they have also taken stock of the new Galactic Heroes games for £18.99 each, whilst anyone with a penchant for a rarer collectable may be interested to know that Sideshow have released the 1:2 scale Darth Vader Bronze statue, limited to just 30 pieces and priced at £18,000!
