Dark Knight Offers a Bat-Twist

July 22, 2008 12:00 AM

As Christopher Nolan first achieved with Batman Begins, Dark Knight is an affirmation that the down-to-Earth realities of good and evil are not misplaced in the superhero genre. The parallels to the tragedy of 9/11, enhanced by Heath Ledger's groundbreaking personification of the Joker, serve Bruce Wayne's personalized struggles as the Caped Crusader which Christian Bale also continues to serve most faithfully.

This sequel's conclusion certainly adds a new twist to Batman's legacy which provides more uncharted territory for possible future sequels. It will be exciting to see how Robin, Catwoman and other familiar characters make their marks in this decade's cinematic tribute to one of the genre's most iconic legends.
